What Our Customers Say
Hear from people who’ve upgraded their homes with OHMS.

I contacted OHMS on behalf of my elderly mother, following a word-of-mouth recommendation from a friend.
Each and every member of the team I met or spoke with were extremely helpful, kind, thoughtful and highly professional.
Since my mother is a nonagenarian, it was my responsibility to complete all the necessary paperwork, yet alas, forms and I are not at all compatible. I would like to thank John (Toal) especially, for his advice, assistance, good humour and patience as I struggled to complete and corral these pesky bits of paperwork.
We’re delighted with the installation of both solar panels and modern Smart storage heaters, consequently, I cannot recommend OHMS highly enough.

I found Ohms to be exceptionally helpful. John McEwan was fantastic at screwing the deal together and I cannot speak highly enough of their team that installed my system. Johnny their lead engineer was just superb.
Some of the correspondence was a little slow but this was partly due to constraints from SSEN and summer holidays.
All up would I use them again and recommend them - is a resounding yes.
– Tim Morton

OHMS have been great from start to finish. They were amongst 15 quotes that I received (yes I know I went overboard). There quote price and. Alue exceeded others. The roofers and electrician visited to check everything which made a change from a salesman. John was responsive to all my emails. They were reassuring and knowledgeable. The installation was seamless. Highly recommend.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Energy Company Obligation is a UK government-backed initiative that requires utility companies to provide grant funding to homeowners and tenants. Its goal is to improve home energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, tackle fuel poverty, and help achieve net-zero carbon targets by 2045.
These schemes aim to:
- Insulate homes and reduce heat loss
- Provide green energy alternatives
- Lower energy bills
- Increase overall energy efficiency
All are legal acts supported by the UK and Scottish Governments to help combat climate change and reach net-zero emissions.
Funding ultimately comes from energy suppliers. Every customer contributes a small amount through their utility bills, and the government requires suppliers to invest part of their profits into improving homes—making them warmer, more efficient, and cheaper to heat, especially for low-income or vulnerable households.
No. The scheme follows a ‘Fabric First Approach’, meaning insulation is the top priority. If your insulation is old, missing, or inadequate, you may still qualify for free grant funding to replace it.Once insulation standards are met, renewable systems such as Solar PV, battery storage, or heating upgrades can be installed to maximize efficiency and savings.
Not always. Local authority approval provides ‘Passport Eligibility’, but it doesn’t guarantee funding. Funding availability depends on several factors:
- Each scheme (LA Flex & GBIS) has limited funding and targets.
- Eligibility depends on your property’s suitability for upgrades.
- All evidence must be accurate and transparent—any false information may void eligibility.
Yes. All installations come with full TrustMark-backed guarantees. At OHMS Renewables, we go one step further — every installation undergoes an independent C3 inspection to verify quality, suitability, and standards, giving you an enhanced level of assurance and peace of mind.
ECO4 Flex (Local Authority Flex) is part of the UK Government’s ECO4 scheme. It allows local councils to approve funding for home energy improvements — like insulation, heating upgrades, or renewables — for households who don’t receive benefits but still struggle with energy costs or live in a low-efficiency home (EPC D–G). If eligible, the upgrades are usually fully funded.
